LSWRC Seeks ATWAP Cooperation On Standard Requirements

The Lagos State Water Regulatory Commission (LSWRC) on Tuesday , called on operators in the sub sector to cooperate in ensuring adequate supply of drinking water contained in bottles or polythene bags with meet required standards.

 

LSWRC met with the Zonal and State Chairmen of the Association of Table Water Producers of Nigeria (ATWAP).

 

The Executive Secretary of the Commission, Mrs. Funke Adepoju, addressed the gathering and spoke on the powers of the Commission such as regulation of the activities of those engaged in the provision, consumption, processing, treatment, packaging, distribution, sales and supply of drinking water contained in bottles or polythene bags to ensure acceptable service standards.

She also enjoined the Association to cooperate with the Commission on the review and approval of standards of performance of services in the sector.

 

Responding, the Lagos State Chairman of ATWAP, Alhaji Yisau Adeoye, thanked the State government for its concern over the provision of an enabling environment for the association to offer quality and safe drinking water for Lagosians.

 

Also at the occasion was ATWAP National President, Mrs. Clementina Chinwe Ativie, who pledged the support of the association towards ensuring the success of the Commission in achieving its mandate.
