IGBO MARITIME FORUM: Group Issues 14-Day Ultimatum For President General To Vacate Seat

A socio cultural group in the maritime sector has issued a 14-day ultimatum for the President General ,Igbo Maritime Forum (IMF) , His Royal Highness,  Eze Amb.Damian Emeka Obianigwe and his executives to vacate office after eight years of leadership.

 

The IMF is made up of freight forwarders, customs brokers,licensed customs agents and transporters cut across all the Igbo nation in maritime sector.

 

This include practitioners from Enugu, Imo, Anambra, Abia, Ebonyi and Delta states.

 

Eze  Obianigwe who is the Executive Chairman of Fano Shipping Agencies Limited has been urged to organise an election to bring in new executives to run the affairs of the socio cultural group in maritime industry.

 

The group identified as National Igbo Maritime Advocacy on Accountability and Leadership Group has expressed worries over the long stay in office by the Chairman Fano Bonded Terminal as PG IMF after his two terms in office saying that such practice has created major setback for the socio cultural maritime body.

 

Convener of the group,Osita Chukwu Patrick said elders of the socio cultural group have exhausted all avenue for the industrialist and his executives to vacate the position after  two tenures as president general of IMF.

 

Patrick said the Fano boss had allegedly promised to step down but all to no  avail saying that “We are not happy with him in anyway because there ought to be an election.

 

“The PG is regarded as somebody who is so transparent in the Igbo circle of the maritime sector we don’t know why he is occupying the position for many years.

 

“We are angry with this development and that is why we want him to organise an election within fourteen days or we might be forced to seek a redress in court.

 

He recalled that after the Mobil Pegasus election in 2013, no elections have been held to usher in new executives.

 

Osita who is the Coordinator,Save Nigeria Freight Forwarders Importers Exporters Coalition and Chairman, Apapa Chapter, International Freight Forwarders Association (IFFA) maintained that new executives for socio cultural group ought to have been constituted.

 

He urged the Fano boss executives to  desist from parading themselves as leaders of the socio cultural group of maritime practitioners.
