Gov. Bagudu Orders LG Chairmen To Rally Support For Farmers, Renews MOU With NNPC

Kebbi State Government has directed all the local government chairmen to provide support for farmers as part of measures to ease the burden production cost of farming in the state

 

 

 

 

Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu gave the glad tidings this Sunday at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi when he hosted Local Government Chairmen to Ramadan Breakfast (Iftar).

 

Abubakar Mu’azu Dakingari, Chief Press Secretary to the governor in a statement on Sunday, quoted  Bagudu expressing delight about the bumper harvest recorded by farmers throughout the state during this dry-season cultivation which indicated that, Kebbi State would maintain its leading role in crops production such as rice, potatoes, wheat, soya-beans, cassava, sugarcane and variety of grain.

The governor said this is to consolidate its success recorded in agricultural production by enhancing encouragement and material support to farmers to increase yields.

 

On  security, Governor  Bagudu spoke about the importance for synergy among state, local government councils and security agencies, vigilante groups and other self-volunteers to work jointly for effective operation.

 

He would want return of tranquility to enable farmers embark on large scale cultivation, saying that inspite of the influx of bandits from Zamfara, Niger and Sokoto states including neighbouring Republic normality has gradually returned to flash-point areas of Sakaba, Danko/Wasagu, Bagudo, Arewa, Suru and Bunza Local Government Areas.

Bagudu informed the Chairmen that, Kebbi State has renewed its MoU with the NNPC on the use of cassava and sugarcane as raw materials for the production of ethanol bio-fuel, saying that the CBN has assured the state of more funding to expand cassava production.

 

Furthermore the Federal Government has included Kebbi State in the search of petroleum mineral resources.

 

The governor thanked the local government chairmen for ensuring progress has been achieved in all sectors as well as peace, security and tranquility.

 

Earlier, the Chairman of Birnin Kebbi Local Government, Alhaji Aminu Ahmad Sarkin Fada acknowledged the effort of Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu to improve agricultural production which facilitated bumper harvest in the current dry-season farming.

He was happy about the prevailing peace in Kebbi State which has been facilitated by the effort of the Governor through his material and financial support to security agencies.

 

Alhaji Aminu Sarkin Fada rejoiced with the Governor on the appointment of an indigene of Kebbi State as acting Managing Director of Nigeria Ports Authority, Mohammed Bello from Koko which is an indication that the state has continued to enjoy benevolence of President Muhammadu Buhari.

 

The Ramadan Iftar was also attended by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Hassan Muhammad Shallah Gwandu.
