Governor Dapo Abiodun, in a statement on Tuesday, described the airport as a strategic asset in the state’s vision to become Nigeria’s foremost industrial and transportation hub. According to the governor, the facility boasts a Category 9 fire cover, an expansive apron space designed to accommodate large cargo aircraft, premium VIP lounges, a fully equipped fire service station, and a state-of-the-art control tower.
He added that these features underscore the administration’s resolve to open up Ogun State to increased economic activity, global connectivity, and job opportunities for its people.
“The Gateway International Airport stands as a bold testament to our vision of positioning Ogun State as Nigeria’s leading industrial and transportation gateway—connecting our people to jobs, commerce, and global opportunities,” Governor Abiodun stated.
