DISPUTE :  Delta Communities Set To Embark  On Peace Talk

In a view to ending the age long boundary dispute, the Isaba and Aladja Communities in Udu and Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State have given conditions for peace  between them on one hand as well as the Ogbe-Ijoh people on the other hand.

 

They handed down the conditions in separate statements signed by the communities.

 

The convener of the peace moves, Mr. Kingsley Orere and his think tank team from Isaba urged both Communities to cease fire and shealth their swords.

 

He said there should be,”No further kidnappings,molestation or provocation of any kind.

 

According to Orere,”The Isaba/Aladhja road should be opened for free movement of all road users.

 

“Commercial and agricultural activities should resume uninterrupted.

 

There should be no extortion of motorists conveying goods and services to Isaba and Aladja.

 

“There should be no hindrance of any form in the reinstallation of the vandalized electric poles and wires on possible government intervention.”

 

Orere also said there should be no transfer of aggression just as he enjoined the two Communities discourage any form of campaign of calumny, frivolous or unfounded allegations, verbally or published on pages of newspapers with the tendency to either fuel or make it assume ethnic colouration.

 

“We advise the leadership of both Communities to take charge or responsibility of their youths activities to ensure sustainable peace.

 

“Every other issue is not mentioned should be looked into with time as the peace process progresses.

 

“In conclusion, our stand as Isaba people remains resolute and firmly committed to the peace process.

 

The President and Secretary of Aladja Community Council, Elder Otto Ogbiruveta and Brian Bezi in their statement tagged,” The Way Forward” said both Ayama and Epame people should be allowed to go back to their original ancestral settlement where they were before the crisis.

 

The Community leaders who did not oppose the peace moves by their Isaba neighbours also said,”The road from Aladja to Isaba should be assessable to all Isaba, Ayama, Epame and all other Communities, villages, camps and farm steads along the axis.

 

“Our farmers should have access to their farm lands without the least harassment and molestation from Isaba.

 

“Isaba will be fully responsible for any attack on indigenes of Aladja, Ayama, Epame and.any other farmers along that axis on the account of any such report.”
