CUSTOMS : KLT Command Seizes Expired Imports At Joliz Terminal
The Acting Area Controller , Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Command, Nigeria Customs Service, Deputy Comptroller BL Adigun, has announced two major seizures at a terminal highlighting the Command’s intensified crackdown on expired, substandard, and falsely declared goods.
According to a statement on Friday, the enforcement actions underscore the Command’s commitment to protecting public health, preventing smuggling, and upholding Customs laws, alongside remarkable revenue growth in 2025.
Adigun said In a key interception, the Command is handing over a 1×20-foot container, GESU3900612, containing 440 bags of 25kg expired raw material known as Triple Pressed Stearic Acid from Indonesia—with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of Thirty Six Million, Five Hundred and Fifty Six Thousand, Five Hundred and Thirty Nine Naira (₦36,556,539.00) only—to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
The controller disclosed that officers of the command discovered during routine cargo examination, the consignment violated import regulations and posed risks to public health.
The Acting CAC highlighted this handover as a prime example of inter-agency collaboration to block harmful products adding that in a related terminal operation at Joliz Terminal, officers seized a 1×40-foot container, MSKU 4798018, falsely declared as zipped luggage but containing empty suitcases, with a DPV of Five Million, Ten Thousand Naira (₦5,010,000.00) only.

This action, he said reinforces the Command’s zero-tolerance policy on false declarations and trade infractions.
On revenue performance, the Command , he stated collected a total of One Hundred and Forty-Seven Billion, Two Hundred and Sixteen Million, One Hundred and Forty-Nine Thousand, Thirty-Three Naira and Eighty-One Kobo (₦147,216,149,033.81) only in 2025, exceeding its target of One Hundred and Nine Billion, Four Hundred and Forty-Two Million, Eight Hundred and Ninety-Two Thousand, Nine Hundred and Eighty-Nine Naira and Eighty-Six Kobo (₦109,442,892,919.86) only.
“This marks a 35% increase over 2024’s One Hundred and Seven Billion, One Hundred and Eighty-Two Million, Six Hundred and Seventy-Four Thousand, Nine Hundred and Four Naira (₦107,182,674,904.00) only, with a difference of Forty Billion, Thirty-Three Million, Four Hundred and Seventy-Four Thousand, One Hundred and Twenty-Nine Naira and Eighty-One Kobo (₦40,033,474,129.81) only. *
These gains reflect enhanced enforcement, efficiency, and stakeholder compliance.The Acting CAC extended greetings to the press, stakeholders, and partners, reaffirming the Command’s mandate to facilitate legitimate trade, secure borders, and boost revenue.
