Comptr. Bamisaiye Takes Over Western Marine Command Of Customs ,Tasks Barge Operators On Compliance

Following a minor reorganization of leadership in some Area Commands by the Management of Nigeria Customs Service, the Western Marine Command of Nigeria Customs Service has received the new Customs Area Controller (CAC) Comptroller Paul Bamisaiye.

In a brief handing over ceremony at the Commandโ€™s headquarters Ibafon Apapa, the outgoing CAC Comptroller. OA Salefu handed over the baton to the incoming CAC, Comptroller Bamisaiye.

According to a statement by Mailafiya Magaji, the Public Relations Officer , Western Marine Command, Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) the later at the handover event appreciated officers and men of the Command for the cooperation shown to him during his tenor as CAC and tasked them to give the in-coming controller the same cooperation and more.

He further stated that change in leadership and life is constant and inevitable, as his tenor comes to an end in Western Marine Command, he prayed that God Almighty continue to guide the new leadership.

Comptroller Bamisaiye who had worked in various Customs formations of Nigeria Customs Service Administration brings a rich operational expertise to his new position.

Before his promotion to the rank of Comptroller and his present appointment, he served as Scanner Manager at PTML Area Command, and was also a Provost Marshal Customs Police Unit at NCS headquarters Abuja.

The New CAC while taking over the reins of Western Marine Command responded by thanking the outgoing CAC for the skillful way he led at the Command and wished him the best as he moves on to his new assignment.

He concluded by thanking the Comptroller General and his management team for the faith reposed on him and promised to execute his responsibilities effectively and efficiently.

Meanwhile, Bamisaiye, has vowed to match seizures made on western waterways with arrest of suspects.

Speaking at his maiden meeting with senior officers of the command in Lagos, Bamisaiye reiterated his commitment to eradicating smuggling along all the Western waterways by placing emphasis on seizures , arrests and prosecution.

Comptroller Bamisaiye said the command is purely an enforcement outfit doing same function with Federal Operations Unit on the waters adding that the boats and other operational platforms would be fitted with armaments to strengthen their anti smuggling capabilities.

He said barge operators will be advised to brand their barges as a way to identify them, ensure proper profiling and promote compliance along the waterways

The new Controller disclosed that he would embark on a tour of the outstations under his watch to familiarise himself with them and re-emphasise the policy of the Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi. According to him,the Western Marine Command will constantly pursue Consolidation,Collaboration and Cooperation
