CILT ELECTION: Ex- NIMASA DG Declares Intention To Contest As President

A former Director General, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency ( NIMASA), Mrs. Mfon Usoro has declared her interest to contest for the post of president in the forthcoming Chartered Institute of Logistics andย  Transport (CILT) Nigeria , elections.

 

The ex NIMASA boss disclosed this over theย  weekend at a meeting put together by the Lagos State branch of CILT .

 

 

It was gathered that Mrs. Usoro who is a fellow member of CILT introduced herself at the meeting and requested for votes from all members of CILT Nigeria to enable her become the next national president of the Institute.

Under Any otherย  business (AOB), some members of the Institute canvasses for members vote during the National Conference /Election. Mrs Mfong P. Usoroh, FCILT, who was the former Director General of NIMASA

She urged members to vote for competency and distance themselves from politics of acrimony or bad blood.

 

Sheย  further preached peace, unityย  and promised to contribute her quota towards the development of the Institute globally ifย  given the chance to serve.

 

She however advised members to strongly desist from anything that will bring disunity but work towards progress of the Institute. She reiterated that this message is to allย  members of CILT Nigeriaย  irrespective of their branches.

The nationalย  election is expected to hold October 22nd and 23rd 2021 in Abuja.

 

 

Mrs. Usoro a lawyer, was the immediate past Secretary General of the Abuja Memorandum of Understanding on Port State Control.

 

 

Mrs. Usoro holds a BSc in Sociology from the University of Calabar, an LLB from the University of Buckingham, B.L from the Nigerian Law School and an LL.M from University College London.

 

She was the pioneer Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA from August 2006 to May 2007.

She is the Managing Partner of Paul Usoro & Co., a leading law firm in Nigeria.

 

Mrs. Usoro has served on a number of presidential and ministerial committees and was chairperson of the ministerial sub-committee of the Maritime Organisation of West and Central Africa (MOWCA) regional Maritime development bank in 2009.

 

She is the recipient of several national and international honours and was conferred with the Officier de Lโ€™Ord de Mono, a national honour of the Republic of Togo in 2002.
