CENTENARY CELEBRATION: Ag Chief Of Army Staff Inaugurates Community Devt Project

The Acting Chief of Army Staff (Ag COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Olatunbosun Oluyede, has inaugurated a newly constructed solar-powered borehole for the Angwan Kanawa community in Sabon Gari Local Government Area, Zaria, Kaduna State. This project is part of the activities commemorating the Depot Nigerian Army’s (Depot NA) Centenary Celebration.

Representing the Ag COAS at the event, the Commandant of Depot NA, Major General Muhammed Aminu Abdullahi, explained that the borehole project was initiated by the Late COAS Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja as a gesture of appreciation to the host community.

He acknowledged the 100 years of harmonious coexistence and support that the Depot NA has enjoyed from the community.

Major General Abdullahi praised the Sabon Gari community and the broader Zaria City for being exceptional hosts to the Depot NA since its establishment.

“Celebrating 100 years of our presence and partnership with this community, it is only fitting to give back in recognition of your warmth and hospitality,” he said.

He further emphasized the NA’s gratitude for the enduring relationship with the community, expressing optimism about continued collaboration for mutual development. He added, “This project is intended to improve the quality of life for the people of Sabon Gari, reinforcing our shared commitment to national growth and unity.”

In his vote of thanks, the Sarkin Angwan Kanawa, Alhaji Husseini Abdullahi, expressed deep appreciation to the Ag COAS for the thoughtful initiative. He assured the community’s commitment to maintaining the solar borehole for its long-term benefit.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by the Vice Chairman of Sabon Gari Local Government Area, Hon Kaminu Abdulkarim, teachers from Angwan Kanawa Primary School, and numerous community members, marking a significant moment in the centennial celebration
