BAYELSA: Over 500 PDP Members Defect To APC In Ofoni

Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has received over 500 kinsmen of the late Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) into the fold of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Senator Diri, represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Peter Akpe Ph.D., welcomed the retired Permanent Secretary and elder brother of late Deputy Governor, Dr. Christopher Ewhrudjakpo, and other defectors, assuring them that there was no discrimination in the APC in Bayelsa State.

Dr. Akpe called on others who are yet to join the APC in the state to do so, stressing the preparedness and strength of the party to win all forthcoming elections.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, who are mainly from Wards 3 and 4 of Ofoni Federated Communities in Constituency One of Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Dr. Ewhrudjakpo, who is also the Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment, stated that the present Deputy Governor was from the same state constituency as the former.

He stressed that Governor Diri has been very generous to the Ofoni people, adding that where he leads, they will follow.

Embeleakpo Apere, APC Sagbama West Senatorial Vice Chairman, Mr. Akwaka B. Akwaka, Assistant Publicity Secretary of APC, Bayelsa State, Hon. Kemenanaebi Ogbe; APC Chairman, Sagbama, Hon. Arioka Uhwoma, APC Sagbama Secretary, Hon. Obidake Funkeyi Kerry, Coordinator, Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Sagbama LGA, Chief Okubokakpo Ombu, Hon. Ayakeme Whisky, Engineer Olice Kemenanabo, and other top government functionaries.
