Apapa Lawmaker Takes APC Campaign To MWUN , Creates  Ward Six

Lawmaker representing Apapa Constituency 1, at the Lagos State House of Assembly (LAHA), Hon.Mojisola Lasbat Meranda has called on members of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) to vote for the  All Progressive Congress (APC) at all levels ahead of the 2023 general elections, lamenting that budget constraints affected her oversight performance over the years.

Meranda who is seeking a third term ambition in the state Assembly made the call on Monday in Lagos during a courtesy visit to the national secretariat of the MWUN ,stated that lobby remains one of her job in building bridges between the constituency and the government.

The lawmaker disclosed that Dockworkers Branch of the union has been established to serve as  ward six under her constituency in Apapa, saying , some members of the union has previous vied for councillorship position in community.

According to her ,there are five wards under Apapa Constituency 1 but maintained that the additional ward for the dockers would bring the maritime industry closer to governance.

Meranda stressed that:”I have five wards in my constituency and ever since I came on board, I have used the Dockworkers as my  sixth wards over the years.

She further appealed for members of the union  to vote for the presidential candidate of the APC, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu adding that during his time as governor of Lagos State, he performed beyond expectations.

While campaigning for candidates under the party, she reiterated that Lagos State is endowed with infrastructure noting that the only facility missing in the state its own airline saying that as a legislature, she was able to provide furniture for schools , rendering  assistance to vulnerable children and families etc.

Responding, President General, MWUN , Comrade Adewale Adeyanju said the union has the capacity to sponsor a candidate to contest in Apapa elections but added that labour group is deeply involved towards ensuring a successful 2023 polls across the country.

He urged the lawmaker to ensure that the right things were done to promote effective port operations within the port city of Apapa,saying MWUN was not carried along under her leadership.

Adeyanju maintained that the dockworkers should work harmoniously with purpose of sincerity noting that the MWUN has been supportive from day one when she was elected.
