Nigerian Navy Hands Over Rescued Human Trafficking Victims To NAPTIP

The Nigerian Navy has handed over two rescued victims of suspected human trafficking to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for rehabilitation and further investigation.

The victims were rescued by personnel of the Forward Operating Base, Badagry, during a targeted operation on 17 July 2026 and were later transferred to NAPTIP’s Lagos Zonal Command in Ikeja on 19 July 2026.

According to a statement, before the handover, the victims were taken to the Western Naval Command Maritime Crime Investigation Desk for documentation and biometric processing.

The Navy said the transfer was carried out in line with the Harmonised Standard Operating Procedures for handling trafficking victims, adding that the action reflects its commitment to combating human trafficking and other transnational crimes.

The agency noted that the victims would receive necessary care and support while investigations continue.
