WASA : MWUN P.G Commends Customs For Sports Arena Promoting , Personnel, Youth Well-Being

Apparently satisfied with the innovation, the President General of the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, has commended the management of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) for promoting the physical and mental well-being of personnel and youths in the host communities of Apapa and Ajegunle, Lagos.

Bunu gave the commendation on the sidelines of the commissioning of key projects by the Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, at Western Marine Command of the Nigeria Customs Service on Wednesday in Lagos.

The customs boss commissioned the Wale Adeniyi Sports Arena (WASA) at the command.

The facility features a football pitch, basketball court, and table tennis center.

According to Bunu, the initiative would foster a friendly environment for peace in the community, adding that the Customs boss understands the importance of health and the overall well-being of personnel and youth of the host community.

The President General noted: “Anything involving sports is what we need in our community, and we must thank the Comptroller General of Customs. For us, this is the best thing Customs has done for this community. Sports will take many youths off the streets.”

He called on the CGC to ensure the facilities are sustained and maintained, while describing the mini football pitch and basketball court as world-class.The maritime workers’ union expressed satisfaction with the standard of WASA, adding that the community will benefit immensely.

According to the PG, the initiative will promote peace, mentorship, and mental well-being among the youths.He also said WASA will discourage youth restiveness, drug abuse, and other social vices, as most of them will engage in activities that help build their future.
