LASWA Issues Urgent Alert: No Night Boat Trips To Ilashe Beach Concert Amid Strict Waterways Ban

The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) has urgently reminds fun seekers and fans heading to Alhaji Sule Alao Malaika’s highly anticipated Fuji concert at Ilashe Beach today, Sunday, January 11, 2026, that night travel on Lagos inland waterways is strictly forbidden.

This the agency said in a statement on Sunday, that all boat operations commercial or private must stick to daylight hours only, prioritizing passenger safety.

According to LASWA, the ban on night voyages persists due to heightened dangers like poor visibility and navigation hazards, all to protect lives and property.

LASWA admonished that “Plan your trips wisely: arrive early and steer clear of water travel after sunset. Boat operators are required to follow approved schedules, enforce safety rules, and ensure every passenger wears a life jacket.

“LASWA, alongside NIWA and security agencies, will ramp up patrols on the waterways. Violators will face strict legal action.

“We stay dedicated to safe, reliable, and regulated water transport for all Lagosians and visitors alike.Safety on our waterways is a shared duty—let’s keep it that way.”
