Maritime Police Command , National Single Window Secretariat To Boost Trade Efficiency

The Maritime Police Command and a delegation from the National Single Window (NSW) Secretariat have pledged to boost trade efficiency and to provide adequate port security .

This was contained in a statement signed by ASP Adebayo Rasheed, Police Public Relations Officer, Maritime Police Command, Force Headquarters Annex, Lagos on Friday.

The discussions focused on strategies to improve coordination between the Maritime Police Command and the NSW Secretariat, tackle emerging challenges in maritime trade, and promote effective management of maritime processes.

The meeting formed part of the NSW Secretariat’s ongoing efforts to engage key maritime and trade stakeholders to enhance inter-agency cooperation.

During the visit, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Maritime Police Command, AIG Musa Yusuf Garba expressed the Command’s strong commitment to supporting the National Single Window initiative, emphasizing the importance of security, transparency, and efficient operations in achieving seamless port management and increased national revenue mobilization.

 

The Maritime Police Command boss reaffirmed its dedication to fostering partnerships that advance maritime safety, strengthen national security, and contribute to the country’s economic development.

 

Meanwhile,the Assistant Inspector-General of Police , also hosted a delegation from the Organising Committee of the Lagos International Maritime Week (LIMWeek) 2025 at the Command Headquarters in Obalende, Lagos.

 

The courtesy visit served as an opportunity to deepen collaboration between the Maritime Police Command and the Organising Committee, focusing on actionable strategies to ensure the success of LIMWeek 2025.

Led by the Conference Convener, Mrs. Oritsematosan Edodo-Emore, the visit was part of the Committee’s ongoing stakeholder engagement efforts ahead of the 10th edition of LIMWeek, scheduled for September 29-30, 2025, Lagos

During the meeting, Mrs. Edodo-Emore outlined LIMWeek 2025’s objectives, including promoting dialogue on maritime security and advancing Nigeria’s blue economy through cooperative efforts with key stakeholders.

She underscored the vital role of the Maritime Police Command in maintaining a safe maritime environment that supports sustainable development.

In response, AIG Musa Yusuf Garba commended the Organising Committee for their dedication to sustaining the annual conference.

The Maritime Police Command boss reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing maritime security, fostering partnerships, and supporting initiatives that boost Nigeria’s maritime sector.

He assured them of the Command’s full support, emphasizing that maritime security remains a top priority for the Nigeria Police Force.

The AIG highlighted the importance of strategic partnerships like LIMWeek in driving economic growth.
