Courier Workers Pledge Robust Working Relationship With MWUN
The Courier Staff Association of Nigeria (CALSSAN), an affiliate of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), paid a courtesy visit to the leadership of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), seeking robust working relationship with Marine and Blue Economy group.
Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna, Head of Media, MWUN , disclosed in a statement on Tuesday.
The CALSSAN delegation, comprising Comrades Emeka Cyril Ekeh (Deputy President), Akor Jonah (State Vice Chairman), and Inih Ekwere (State Secretary), was warmly welcomed by MWUN’s President-General, Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, along with his national executives at the Union Secretariat in Olodi-Apapa, Lagos.
The visit was intended to congratulate Comrade Bunu on his recent electoral victory as the new President-General of MWUN and to explore opportunities for fostering strong collaboration between the two trade unions. CALSSAN acknowledged the shared interests between their organizations and expressed confidence that Comrade Bunu’s dynamic leadership would benefit both unions.
In his response, Comrade Bunu pledged full cooperation with CALSSAN in all labor sector matters. He emphasized that genuine comradeship is essential for driving progress within the labor movement and achieving positive outcomes.
An experienced maritime professional and capable administrator, Comrade Bunu assured the visiting delegation that MWUN’s doors would always be open to CALSSAN. He stressed the importance of working together for the advancement and welfare of workers in both unions.
The Izon-born Delta State veteran sailor further highlighted the necessity of continuously promoting workers’ welfare, noting that a healthy workforce underpins a healthy organization — a principle applicable worldwide, including Nigeria.
Comrade Bunu also expressed his gratitude to the CALSSAN executives for the solidarity and support they have shown to his administration in such a short time.
