Nigerian Maritime Sector Gears Up For AMJON 2025 Conference In Lagos

The Nigerian maritime industry is preparing for the Association of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria (AMJON) 2025 Conference and Awards, is set for Friday, July 18, 2025, in Lagos.

The event is organized in collaboration with NLNG Shipping and Marine Services Limited (NSML) and will begin at 10:00 am, attracting key maritime stakeholders and policymakers.

The conference theme, “Maritime Development: Training, Port Efficiency and Shipping Imperatives,” will be explored through detailed papers by NSML, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), and the Maritime Academy of Nigeria Oron. Topics include the sector’s contributions to national development, global competitiveness, safety on Nigerian waters, port regulation, and manpower strategies.

AMJON’s organizing committee chairman, Paul Ogbuokiri, emphasized the significance of the conference as a platform for in-depth presentations addressing maritime challenges and opportunities.

The event will also honor outstanding organizations and individuals who have made remarkable contributions, including NSML, NPA, NIMASA, NSC, MAN Oron, Inland Containers Nigerian Limited, and key personalities such as Hon Prince Godwin Ogorugba and the new Maritime Workers Union president, Comrade Francis Bunu.

AMJON President Kelvin Kagbare highlighted the conference’s focus on optimizing port operations through digitalization, automation, and smart technologies to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.

The event promises expert analyses and engaging discussions aimed at fostering collaborations and business opportunities within Nigeria’s maritime sector.
