EID EL KABIR; SSASCFA Extends Heartfelt Sallah Greetings, Prays For Progress In Maritime Sector,

The Senior Staff Association of Shipping, Clearing and Forwarding Agencies (SSASCFA), has extended heartfelt Sallah greetings to all members of the association and the wider maritime community, urging unity, peace, and renewed commitment to national development during this festive season.

Comrade Harrison Ugochukwu Asonye, President of the Trade Union Congress TUC affiliate association disclosed this in his Sallah message, on Friday in Geneva , Switzerland ,

According to Asonye, who congratulated Muslim faithful across Nigeria for witnessing another Eid-el-Kabir, describer the occasion as a time for reflection, gratitude, and rededication to the values of sacrifice and compassion that define the festival.

He emphasized the critical role of the marine and Blue Economy in Nigeria’s economic growth, noting that shipping, clearing, and forwarding professionals remain the backbone of the nation’s import and export activities, ensuring the smooth flow of goods and services even in challenging times.

Asonye commended the resilience and dedication of SSASCFA members, who, despite economic and operational challenges, have continued to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, contributing immensely to the sector’s stability and the country’s trade surplus in recent quarters.

He called on government agencies and industry stakeholders to intensify efforts towards improving staff welfare, career progression, and workplace harmony, referencing recent achievements in staff promotions and welfare packages as examples of positive collaboration between unions and management.

The SSASCFA President also urged all maritime workers to embrace the spirit of Sallah by fostering unity and understanding across religious and ethnic divides, stressing that only through collective effort can the sector overcome its current challenges and reach its full potential.

He further highlighted the importance of strong leadership and accountability within the sector, encouraging government agencies to maintain robust oversight and support initiatives that enhance security, job creation, and revenue generation for the nation.

Comrade Asonye reaffirmed SSASCFA’s commitment to advocating for the rights and welfare of its members, promising continued engagement with relevant authorities to address issues affecting the maritime workforce.
