EXCLUSIVE: CRFFN Staff To Join Shipping Branch Of MWUN, Inauguration Set To Hold In April

Apparently determined to embark on unionism in line a conducive working environment, fresh facts have emerged that workers under the Council for the Regulations of Freight forwarding in Nigeria ( CRFFN) are warming up to become members of the Maritime Workers’Union of Nigeria (MWUN).

DAILYFOCUS NIGERIA findings revealed that staff of CRFFN numbering over 100 will soon be inaugurated into the Shipping Branch of MWUN before the end of April 2024.

It was gathered that staff of the Council are affiliate to a union under the Ministry of Transportation but due to alleged poor representation by leaders of the union and newly created  Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue by the Bola Tinubu administration led to the exodus movement of CRFFN workers to join MWUN.

Insider sources told our correspondent on Wednesday , that the CRFFN personnel are desperate to join MWUN in furtherance to drive home their demands and welfare packages.

According to our impeccable sources, a district might be created by the leadership MWUN shortly after the inauguration in a bid to understudy their existence and performance before further positions would be assigned

It was gathered that officials of the Council were initially under the unit of Amalgamated Union of Public Corporation,Civil Service Technical and Recreational Service (AUPCTRE).

AUPCTRE is an affiliate of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).

Workers of CRFFN had resigned from the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporation,Civil Service Technical and Recreational Service (AUPCTRE) before making the moves to join MWUN.

Similarly, the council staff it was further gathered have also completed the process of migration to MWUN and assigned to a branch which is the Shipping, Clearing and Forwarding Agencies Workers branch .

The Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN )was established through Act No. 16 2007 and was enacted into law on the 30th of April,2007.
