The Governor made the statement after he inspected some rice cluster farms in Auyo, Hadejia, and Jahun local government areas of the state.
According to him, the yield and the areas covered in these communities are so enormous that no state can compete with Jigawa in terms of production.
He noted that the state government under its cluster program in the ministry of Agriculture has engaged thousands of farming families and has supported them with seed, fertilizer, and insecticides.
He said this is in line with the Buhari-led administration’s effort of diversifying the economy and alleviating millions out of poverty.
“As everyone is witnessing today in Jigawa state, rice farms are everywhere all through the year. We have engaged most of our local farmers and it is yielding positive results.
” Through the federal government’s ancho borrower program many farmers in Jigawa state have benefited.” the governor said.
“With the irrigation facility recently commissioned in Kazaure, ancho borrower program and our cluster farming program we are surely going to lead in agriculture in the country.” he added.
