𝐀𝐝𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐰𝐚 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 Terminate𝐬 𝐍𝟕.𝟓 𝐁𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐈𝐧 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐬

The Adamawa State Executive Council held its 13th 2022 meeting today, presided over by Deputy Governor, 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐞𝐭𝐡, and approved the termination of the contract for the construction of the Gombi-Ga’anda and Michika–Moda–Kamale roads in the Government House Yola.

According to a statement, the two projects, worth N4.6 billion and N2.9 billion, were awarded to AG Vision Construction Limited in 2009 and 2013, respectively, but the contractor failed to complete them.

The council had previously terminated the contract for the construction of 39.5 kilometers of Maiha-Fulbere-Zhedinya-Marraba Pella road, which had been awarded to the same contractor in 2007.

The State Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Dr. Umar Garba Pella, revealed that the contractor who was given various projects at different times has demonstrated the highest level of unreliability and insensitivity to the projects, which the government will no longer tolerate.

Dr. Pella stated that payments had been made to the contractor, citing the example of Gombi Ga’anda road, on which the contractor had collected N3.9b; approximately 80% of the contract sum out of the initial cost of N4.6b for the project.

As a result, he said, the council directed the Ministry of Works and Housing to work with the department of justice to ensure the contract is revoked and liquidated, and the projects are given to a more competent contractor who will deliver them for the State.

The Commissioner also revealed that the council has approved the purchase of 6 Toyota Camry 2015 and 2016 models for the 4 High Court Judges and 2 Khadis of the Sharia Court of Appeal, at a cost of more than N11 million each.

The Commissioner stated that the contract has been awarded to Naiwa Global Link Limited and that it is expected to be delivered to the judges within the next 3 months.
