Kwara NANS shut down DSTV, ShopRite, MTN over Xenophobic attack in South Africa
The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Kwara Axis on Wednesday shut down the South African businesses in Kwara.

The students’ body close down ShopRite along Fate road and MTN at Taiwo Road and DSTV all in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital, among other business operated by South Africans in Kwara.

This is coming on the heels of xenophobic killings of Nigerians in South Africa.
Confirming this, the State chairman of NANS, Mr. Saheed Olosasa condemned the incessant killings of Nigerians in South Africa.
“The killings of Nigerians at South Africans has got to an alarming rate and will no longer be tolerated.”

ShopRite and DSTV were however re-opened after about two hours of closure although the MTN office is still under lock after the management failed to attend to the students till time of filling this report.

Olosasa said, “The management of ShopRite and DSTV shows remorse and even pasted the campaign against xenophobic attacks at the walls of their buildings, since our message is passed, we found it worthy to reopen their business after asking them to send a clear warning to South Africa. However, the MTN is still under locked as the management and staffs are not ready to attend to the protesting students.”.

Asked for their demands, the student leader said, ” the management of this companies should contact their South Africa bosses to discourage the xenophobic attack in their country. They should also write a letter of apology to Nigeria students and other neccessary quarters.”
The multitude of students who trooped out for the protest were escorted by 12 vans conveying police officers and men of the DSS to maintain law and order.
