WORKERS DAY :MWUN Expresses Optimism Over Challenges Militating Against Nigeria

The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has expressed high  hopes over the numerous challenges bedeviling the country.

 

Apparently worried over the state of the nation’s insecurity, unemployment ,hike in food stuff and petroleum products, the Union’s President General, Comrade Adewale Adeyanju in his May Day message to stakeholders in the maritime and labour sub-sectors, called for steadfast prayers to God in resolving most of the challenges.

According to a message from the President General, in commemoration of the International Workers  Day celebration  which is coming up on Sunday , May 1st 2022, maintained that there is light at the end of the tunnel , saying that Nigerians should be optimistic of positive change.

Adeyanju stated that “I Comrade Adewale Adeyanju, President General MWUN, on behalf of the union celebrate with all our members in the Nigerian Ports Authority, dock labour industry, seafarers and shipping, clearing and forwarding partners in all the ports, jetties, terminals, oil and gas platforms on the occasion of 2022 workers day.

 

 

“We also, celebrate with all Nigerian workers and pray for hope , fairness and justice as we continue to face challenges in our daily lives .

“Challenges of insecurity,. kidnapping, Petroleum products hike , increasing food prices, epileptic power , bad roads and high rate of unemployment.

“The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria hopefully pray that our challenges as Nigerian workers especially in our nation’s ports, jetties, terminals and oil and gas platforms will be attended to.

 

“On this note we call on all our members to remain steadfast,dedicated and focused on the task of service delivery, in harmonious and safe environment.

 

Again the PG called on the federal government to take necessary steps in restoring dockworkers on board ships for security purposes.

 

 

“We seize this opportunity to call on the federal government to take necessary steps to restore the dockworkers, seafarers pool system as well as being back our on board ship gangway  security men in our port operations and nation’s ports,” he added.

The international workers day celebration has as theme ” Labour Politics and the Quest for good governance development in Nigeria.
