WMC: Your New Ranks Call For Additional Responsibilities , Controller Tasks Promoted Officers

Newly promoted officers and men of the Western Marine Command (WMC) of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) have been charged to justify their new ranks by increasing their efforts at suppressing smuggling on the waterways.

Comptroller Olugboyega Peters, Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the amphibian command gave the charge on Tuesday during the decoration of some promoted officers.

Peters added that the time of compromise was over in the discharge of their duties saying everything must be done according to the regulations of the Service.

He told the 15 promoted officers that their new ranks call for additional responsibilities saying that their levels have changed.

“The Comptroller General of Customs has done well by promoting officers every year. There was a time that officers would be on same rank for nine years without promotion.

“Do not disappoint the management that has deemed it fit to promote you because promotion is not a right.

The Area Controller also admonished them to develop their skills in the core areas of the service like revenue generation, suppression of smuggling, among others.

The fifteen officers decorated during the exercise include; I. Ohanyere from Assiatant Comptroller to Deputy Comptroller.

W.F Muhammed and S. O Ariyebi from Chief Supritendent of Customs to Assistant Comptroller.

A. G Musa promoted from Deputy Supritendent of Customs to Supritendent of Customs.

N. Tangwa, B. H Mohammed, C. H Anugba, U. Egwuonwu, H. O Balogun all promoted from Assistant Supritendent of Customs 1 to Deputy Supritendent of Customs.

A. Orji and A. A. Adeniyi were decorated as Assiatnt Supritendent of Customs 1 having being promoted from Assiatbt Supritendent of Customs 2.

M. Y Dansoka, A. Salisu, E.S Edeh and S. Dimka were also decorated as Assistant Supritendent of Customs 2 after they were promoted from Inspector of Customs.

While reacting on behalf of the newly promoted officers , spokesman of the Command DSC Emmanuel Tangwa commended the service and the Area Controller for the support and encouragement to officers and men of the command.
