WIMA Nigeria Welcomes Fresh Leadership, As Macfoy Passes Baton To Nwaeze In Seamless Transition

In a harmonious election brimming with sisterhood and gratitude, the Nigerian chapter of African Women in Maritime (WIMA) bid farewell to one era and ushered in a bolder one.

After four impactful years rooted in unity, dignity, and scandal-free stewardship, Mrs. Rollens Macfoy stepped down as President.

Her tenure exemplified humble, faith-driven leadership that fostered growth without discord.

Now advancing to Vice President of WIMA Africa (Anglophone), she remains a steadfast guide—present, influential, and devoted to service.

In her farewell address, Macfoy expressed deep thanks to God, ambassadors, mentors, and a unified Executive Council that operated without conflict, bound by shared purpose.

Mrs. Theodora Nwaeze, the newly elected President, leading a dynamic Executive Council committed to expanding on these strong foundations and navigating uncharted waters.

Nwaeze’s vision pulses with national ambition: empowerment, innovation, collaboration, and heightened visibility.

She pledges to ensure every WIMA Nigeria member is seen, heard, supported, and elevated—through leadership pipelines, mentorship, digital tools, and blue economy training.

“This marks a shift to a modern, strategic WIMA: confident and forward-looking.”This presidency will propel WIMA Nigeria from events to lasting capacity building, from quiet efforts to national prominence, from localized focus to nationwide reach, and from mere participation to real influence,” Nwaeze declared.

Her ambitions extend beyond Lagos and Nigeria, forging ties across Africa and the global maritime arena while activating states and amplifying WIMA’s voice in marine and blue economy discussions.

Flanked by an inclusive, tech-savvy, media-smart team grounded in service, Nwaeze and her council aren’t just stewards—they’re expanders.

The new executives include Mrs. Temilade Ogunniyi (Vice President), Mrs. Obiageli Benjamin (Secretary), Mrs. Yetunde Olori-Oladipo (Assistant Secretary), Mrs. Onome Joy Monjie (Treasurer), Ms. Favour Kalu (Assistant Treasurer), Mrs. Lola Adesokan (Public Relations Officer), and Mrs. Aisha Imukoro (Assistant PRO).

The ceremony drew maritime powerhouses such as Mrs. Jean Chiazor Anishere SAN (President, Maritime Arbitrators Association of Nigeria), Chief (Mrs.) Carol Ufere (Co-Founder, Committee of Friends for Humanity), Mrs. Odunayo Ani (President, Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association Nigeria), and Mrs. Gloria Kanabe (Managing Director, Hudson Gee Nigeria Limited), among others
