Widows, Youths Urge Federal,States Lawmakers To Emulate Idimogu’s Humanity

Youths and widows in Nigeria have called on both federal and states lawmakers to emulate the kind hearted gesture of Honourable Jude Idimogu, a lawmaker representing Oshodi/ Isolo Constituency ii of the Lagos State House of Assembly, in reaching out to the less privileged across the country.

 

The less privileged lamented that Nigerian lawmakers across board have failed in their responsibilities to provide for the needy.

 

According to them, the Idimogu’s gestures occasionally, goes a long way in providing succour for the less privileged in Lagos State, irrespective of tribe , religion and ethnicity, hence support from other lawmakers will further reduce hunger in the land, criminalities and other social vices in the country.

 

These assertions was coming against the backdrop of the recent Sallah celebration in Lagos , where the Lagos lawmaker representing Oshodi Isolo Constituency ii of the State House of Assembly distributed food items to Lagosians.

 

Beneficiaries who spoke to DAILYFOCUS NIGERIA, confirmed that the hunger  situation has worsened in the last one year but maintained that the food items from the lawmaker during the festivity would be remembered for a longer while.

 

A widow who identified herself as Ruth Ozurumba stated that “It is very hard to get one square meal a day due to the hardship and economic downturn but with what I got today I will continue to pray for Jude Idimogu to succeed and personally, I canvass support for him to be reelected.

 

The Imo state widow who resides in Lagos added that “Nothing is too small because how many politicians in Lagos alone can do what Jude Idimogu has done.

 

“It is not easy for him to come out and feed over 500 homes . So my advice to politicians,please ensure to support those who are hungry in your community because we all know that there is hunger in the country.

 

Speaking , Patience Madu an applicant described Nigerian politicians as greedy people , saying that “Jude Idimogu is an exception adding that ‘We will continue to pray for him because this is not the first or second time he and his wife deemed it necessary to reach out to the need.

 

Madu stressed that government is for the people,by the people and of the people but today no government official is ready to help in feeding the poor whenever the need arises.

 

She however called on other lawmakers to emulate the Igbo lawmaker in Lagos State, even as she quoted the scripture, saying ” Give and it shall be given unto thee”.

 

On his part , Evangelist Val Faith from Akwa Ibom State but resides in Lagos said “With all amount of sincerity, i want to thank our distinguished Hon. For his good work and humanitarian services.

 

” He is a very kind man the way he relates with the people notwithstanding the crowd  he has ensured there is no crisis.

 

“He has implemented it in such away everybody is happy. Many people have gone.

 

 

 

When we talk of dividend of democracy, in a day like this,, the gift is so small even though everyone is getting happily. But if other lawmakers and politicians can come to do same I want to believe that hunger will be a thing of the past in Nigeria

 

 

 

He also called on the Idimogu to expand his empowerment programmes,thus  empower people with what is meaningful.

 

Faith said “For instance, coming on a day like today not issuing things like a bag of rice, but things like sewing machine, barbling clippers, phones, devices that will help them  print recharge cards.

 

“If such empowerments are done, the next Sallah, the crowd here will reduce. This gesture is prominent, wonderful, this is indeed highly appreciated. Let there be things that will add value”.
