Western Marine Customs Destroys Poultry Products Worth N3.47Million
The Western Marine Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has destroyed poultry products intercepted by operatives of the Nigeria Navy within Badagry waters.

Recall that the Federal Operating Base (FOB) of the Nigerian Navy on Wednesday in Lagos intercepted and handed over 170 cartons of frozen poultry products being smuggled into the country to the Nigerian Customs Service.
The Naval Commander, Forward Operating Base, Capt. Tamuno Senibo, who handed over the frozen poultry products at the base in Badagry, said it was intercepted at about 1:00am on June 12.
Addressing journalists on Friday at the command in Lagos ,while destroying the frozen items, Chief Superintendent of Customs, CSC Lawal Arisekola said there were two separate seizures made by the customs and naval force respectively.
According to him, the first seizure was recorded on the 12th of June ,while the other was made possible on Thursday June 13.
The customs official said the seizures were made possible as a result of the harmonised modus operandi of the government agencies along the waterways.
Arisekola noted that aside the 170 cartons of frozen products received from the naval operatives, beachcombing officials also intercepted 173 cartons of frozen items at 2.00am.
He said the combined seized items are estimated at N3.47million adding that there is no hiding place for smugglers on the waterways.
Arisekola recalled that officers of the command had made three similar seizures in the last three months, adding that the amphibious arm of the service will not relent to run the daredevil smugglers out of business.
He noted that in April the command destroyed 600 cartons of poultry products, while in May it handed over cannabis worth billions of naira to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
He assured that : “As long as the smugglers continue with their illicit business, we will continue to make seizures.
He called on the smugglers to engage in legitimate business adding that there will be no hiding place for the smugglers.
