We Have Cleared Backlog Of Workers Salaries – CRFFN Registrar

Barely five months of his appointment, Chief Executive Officer/ Registrar , Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN), Comrade Kingsley Igwe has disclosed that backlog of workers salaries have been cleared.

Igwe disclosed this on Tuesday in Lagos,when he led management team of the Council to the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN).

The Council’s Registrar, stated that though workers are yet to receive their salaries for January and February 2025 respectively, the CRFFN has come to stay and work has commenced to ensure revamping of its mandates.

He stated that ” We are working out things to be in place and to revive works left undone. Our collaboration with MWUN is to help to strengthen what we have put in place .

“The cry of my workers are no more because we have cleared the backlog of salaries.And we didn’t stop there because we went ahead to restore our place with the budget of the federal government , meaning salaries of workers are guaranteed.

 

“You can ask me why we are yet to pay the salaries for January and February, let’ me state here that it has been passed but only remain to be loaded. So I haven’t made any mistake to say that our salaries have been cleared and you will no longer hear anything like salaries none payment of CRFFN staff again.”,the Registrar stated.

According to him, salary payment from the government has brought succour for the workers . He stated that since his appointment as Registrar, the council has been consolidated noting that the CRFFN would soon secure a befitting and conducive environment for workers .

Evidently, he commended the President General of MWUN, Comrade Adewale Adeyanju for his doggedness, commitment and dedication towards prioritizing workers welfare in the maritime space.

Responding, Adeyanju said the union will continue to celebrate hard work, saying that MWUN will rally support for the Registrar to perform better.

On the two months delayed salaries, Adeyanju commended the federal government for the backlog payment, pointing out that the Registrar has proven to be a committed leader.

He affirmed that the MWUN will continue to protect the interest of members in any organizations,adding that the Registrar has proven to be responsible towards ensuring welfare package for workers.

Adeyanju said “He (Igwe) should count on us 24 hours for support because we are a reformed union to ensure that marine, maritime transport thrive.

On Professional Operating Fee (POF) collection, Adeyanju assured that the union will engage freight forwarding practitioners and associations who are not ready to comply, noting that revenue collection is key .
