Waltolye Tasks Students Of Higher Learning To Embark On Research Works For Marine/ Blue Economy Growth

Managing Director, Waltolye Limited , Chief Joseph Adebowale Atoloye has tasked students of maritime and transport related studies to embark on research works that will unearth the potentials of the Marine and Blue Economy .

Atoloye gave the charge on Friday at University of Lagos while handing over books written by maritime experts to the centre for multi modal transport studies .

According to him, the marine and blue economy has enormous potentials to absorb millions of graduates from the Nigerian tertiary institutions adding Waltoye Limited is a beneficiary of the industry .

He noted that for jobs to be available for fresh graduates and those already practicing within the sector, there is need to carry out research , investigation and survey on how the industry can grow considering the new ministry.

Appealing to graduates across tertiary institutions to prioritize research works, Atoloye who was accompanied by Olori Rebecca Kehinde on the gestures as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility
(CSR) affirmed the education is key to unlocking hidden treasures of the marine ecosystem, hence the need giving back to society.

Chief Atoloye stated that the books are materials for students of maritime and other related transport courses, saying that it’s the organisation’s innovation of giving back to society.

While handing over the intellectual materials to the Director , Centre for Multimodal Transport Studies of the University of Lagos , Akoka Lagos , Professor Iyiola Oni Samuel , the Managing Director of Waltolye Nigeria Limited, disclosed that a total of fifteen copies of the two books were handed over to the department.

The books are – “Barge Operations: A Panacea For Port Congestion In Nigeria’s Maritime Industry (Operational Approach)” written by Prof. Samuel Babatunde , and ” Nigeria and Global Maritime Industry”, written by Moses Fadipe.

Responding, Prof. Oni assured management of the company that the books will be used for classroom activities.

Prof Oni acknowledged that the materials were written by experts from the maritime industry.

He further endorsed the books for academic studies , commending the organization for the gesture and service to humanity.

Also, Author of one of the books, Prof. Samuel stated that the gesture is centred on knowledge advancement , enhancement and development, adding that intellectual materials have been described as a major obstacle in academic learning environment.

He said authors of the books are experts in the maritime industry with decades of practical based knowledge , experience and training ,stressing that transfer of knowledge is a welcome development.
