Two LAGFERRY Boats Gutted By Fire , As Two Others  Hospitalized 

A fire incident involving 2 Lagos State Ferry  Service (LAGFERRY) boats christened  MV.Lateef Jakande, and MV Mobolaji Johnson occurred at about 2 pm on Wednesday 5th of January 2022.

 

According to a statement by the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA), preliminary  investigation revealed that the fire began from a fuel tank of one of the boats, which later affected the other.

 

The statement added that two crew members were involved in the accident and are now in the hospital after sustaining first degree burns.

It was gathered that the incident occurred at the Falomo waterfront.

A combined team of Lagos State Waterways Authority, Lagos Fire Service, Marine Police, and LAGFERRY Staff were able to curtail the inferno and recover the boat’s remains.

 

Further investigation to explain the circumstances surrounding the incident is still ongoing when filing this report.
