Tricycle Operator Disarms Suspected Armed Robber in Delta Community

A twenty four years old commercial tricycle operator, Kennys Ojokojo has disarmed a suspected armed robber, beat him till he fainted before he handed him over to youths in Jakpa Community in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

 

It was learnt that one of the suspected armed robbers fled the scene when the incident became fierce.

 

The incident occurred on Saturday June 1 at about 8am.

 

Ojokojo also recovered a commercial tricycle from the suspects which he also handed over to the police through the Youths in Jakpa Community, Uvwie Local Government Area.

 

The commercial tricycle operator sustained serious gunshot injuries after the incident is currently receiving medical treatments.

 

Fifteen bullets were pumped into his body but six has been removed.

 

Ojokojo ,while narrating how the incident happened to Journalists at the Secretariat of the Nigeria Union Journalists,NUJ Warri Correspondents’ Chapel on Monday June 3, said he was asleep when he was called to come and carry chairs at when he heard a girl shouting,”My phone” at Okito junction along Jakpa road near Sokoh Estate.

 

Ojokojo said : “I gave them a hot chase and but my Keke fell into a dish at Orhumarho junction.

 

He said he managed to come out of the dish but by the time he got to Esedo Primary School, his commercial tricycle summersaulted.

 

“I heard the driver of the Keke shouting, shoot am. Shoot am! I dived him and started fighting him while the other one escaped.”

 

Ojokojo who is paternally from Orhoakpor and maternally from Jakpa Communities in Ethiope-East and Uvwie Local Government Areas gave reasons why he combated with the suspected armed robbers.

 

According to him,” if i run, they will shoot and if he engages them, they will still shoot. So, I say na once man dey die. I fight the guy, beat am well, well till he faint. I come drag am to youth for Jakpa junction. Na the youths hand over to police.”

 

He said police officers at the Ekpan Division blamed him for combating with the armed robbers.

 

He said the DPO however cautioned them not to blame him stressing that he tried to save a life just as he ordered that his tricycle be released to him on bail.

 

Ojokojo also noted that the Police only released his tricycle to him without releasing the other to its owner.
