Transporters Knock TTP , ETO’s Two Years Existence, Says Many Truckers Out Of Business
Apparently dissatisfied with the two years in port operations, transporters under the aegis of Council for Maritime Truck Unions and Associations (COMTUA) has knocked management of Truck Transit Park (TPP) Limited , saying its existence has led many operators out of business.
Adeyinka Aroyewun, National president COMTUA,in a statement made available to our correspondent on Friday, 17Th February, 2023 and addressed to the Chairman,Managing Director,Truck Transit Park Limited, lamented that two years of the company’s existence was allegedly characterised by monopolistic tendency noting that operators are mourning the loss incurred daily.
According to him,the cost of running haulage business at the port corridors increased by two hundred percent adding that TTP does not mention the number of deaths and accidents caused by many due to inability to maintain their trucks .
He noted that: “We in COMTUA wishes to join you and entire team to celebrate your two years of existence in the maritime Transport Industry.
“It is important to mention that we were in a near state of crisis before your arrival. This was as a result of many factors including but not limited to road construction, congestion in the Terminals and the effect of Covid 19 pandemic.
“We cannot shy away from the fact that we now access the ports and Terminals easier than what we witnessed before your arrival. Add that to your claims of success and you can not be wrong; a coincidence is also ruled out.
“While you have administered almost two million trucks to the ports and Terminals at fluctuating rate between Ten and thirty thousand Naira per trip of each truck in the last two years, reduced the price of haulage by sixty percent, you did not remember to mention that alot of operators are out of business, the cost of running our business has increased by two hundred percent and you do not mention the number of deaths and accidents caused by many people’s inability to maintain their trucks.
“While you and your cohorts smiles to the bank, operators frown in agony due to inefficiency from your Monopoly.
You have every reason to celebrate; you enjoy MONOPOLY at our expense and finds it convenient to impose the Minimum Safety Standard sticker on us through your App in connivance with NPA, yet the rate of accident has exposed the fraud in your regime.
While you celebrate at TWO , operators mourn the loss we incur daily. Accept our esteem regards. ”
