TRAGEDY: Shippers’ Council Staff Dies At 52    

A staff of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC),  on Monday , died while preparing for work.

The staff simply identified as Yusuf Muniru died at the age of 52.

The deceased according to insider sources  was a level 7 officer.

 It was gathered that the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the Council, Barr. Hassan Bello with some top management staff paid a condolence visit to the family house immediately .

According to a statement by Head Public Affairs department of the Council, Rakiya Zubairu said :”With heavy hearts but with submission to the will of God, the family of Oladunjoye and the Management of Nigerian Shippers Council announce the transition of Yusuf Muniru at the age of 52.

 “He passed on this morning (yesterday)at his home as he was preparing to come to work.

 “A valued and conscientious staff of the Council, Yusuf who has been buried will be sorely missed by his wife Mary Oladunjoye and 5 children as well as his colleagues in the Nigerian Shippers’ Council.

Bello ,  in his message said:“We have just returned from paying a condolence visit to the family of our late colleague Munir Yusuf at his home in Igando.

 “On your behalf, we commiserated with his wife and his first son Matthew who is just 21.

“As you will all attest, Yusuf was a diligent and ever cheerful colleague who was dedicated to his work. Even though he had a history of hypertension and diabetes he was being managed by the Council’s clinic.

“He was looking forward to conveying returning staff to work this morning as he had just taken delivery of a new bus. He suddenly took ill in the early hours of today and slumped. It’s a sad loss.  “he added.

 “The Council has made arrangements to support and to counsel the family through this difficult time”,he said.    Alh. M. Adamu Malgwi,Assistant Director, General Services,Nigerian Shippers’ Council said Yusuf popularly known as pastor was a very hard-working and dedicated driver.

Amongst other duties, he conveyed staff on the Iyana-Ipaja route for more than ten years.

   He was allocated a new bus just last Friday and I even had cause to verbally commend him as I was handing over the keys.

 “It is really sad. May his soul rest in peace.”
