TRAGEDY, As NIS Mourns Ex-President Sir Caleb Okoye
The maritime industry has been thrown into mourning again as the Nigerian Institute of Shipping (NIS) on Saturday, announced the death of its former National President and patron Sir. Caleb Okoye who died in the early hours of today.
According to a statement by the National President, Captain Anthony Onoharigho, the foremost shipping expert died in his London home after a brief illness.
“Our patron will be missed by many in the shipping industry following his immense contribution to training and re training of practitioners”, Captain Onoharigho described.
The state reads :”We regret to announce the passing on of Sir (Chief) Caleb Edozie Sunny Okoye who passed on the early hours of 5th December, 2020 in London after a brief illness.
“Sir Okoye was the former President of the Nigerian Institute of Shipping ( NIS) who served between 2003 to 2012. He is also the Life Patron of the institute.

“Sir Okoye retired from the Nigerian National Shipping Line (NNSL) as the Director of Operations. He was also the Director of Commercial Services, Brawal Shipping (Aero Maritime Group.
“Sir (Chief) C.E.S. Okoye is presently the Group Managing Director, UNICENT Shipping Ltd before he passed on.
“A Grand Father who has impacted in so many lives in the shipping industry in Nigeria. He will be fondly remembered by the entire Maritime industry.”
It was also gathered that the maritime expert died at the age of 82.
Recall that former Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers’Council, Captain Adamu Biu died penultimate weeks.
