TENSION: NARTO Postpones Presidential Election Indefinitely,As Kanawa Expresses High Hopes

Tension is currently rising , as the Nigeria Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO), has postponed it November 2019 general elections Indefinitely over moves to appoint a consensus presidential candidate .

The current National President, Alhaji Kassim Ibrahim Bataiya, tenure expired on the 21st of November after eight years in office.

It was gathered that the President has put in measures to impose his choice of candidate for the association which has apparently created division among members.

Though multiple sources confirmed that elders of the association may likely sit and decide who would succeed Alhaji Bataiya as the next President of NARTO.

The election is keenly contested by Barrister Enoch Kanawa and a Kaduna based member of NARTO , Alhaji Lawan Exchange.

Though no date has been fixed for the election but our impeccable sources disclosed that there are possibilities for it to hold in the first quarter of 2020, if the candidates are aggrieved with the decision of the elders .

According to them, NARTO’s elders forum will decide who the cap’s fit to lead the road transport group.

Findings also revealed that Barrister Kanawa stands a chance of landslide victory against his opponent in the race but the power of incumbency may scuttle his dreams to become president of NARTO.

Meanwhile, when contacted about the development of the election’s postponement, NARTO’s Presidential candidate , Barrister Kanawa confirmed to our correspondent on Friday that the association was working assiduously to come up with a consensus candidate for the presidential position.

Kanawa said : “We are trying to see how we can come up with a consensus candidate. Though I don’t have reasons to disagree with the elders of the association .

” But my chances are very bright because am the man of the people and am a grassroot member of NARTO ,”he added.

Meanwhile, attempted to speak with Alhaji Lawan Exchange prove abortive as the lines were not reachable.
