TCN Restores Bulk Power Supply To Eko/ Ikeja Electricity Distribution Companies

...Upgrades Agbara Sub station

 

 

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced the restoration of normal bulk power supply to Eko and Ikeja Electricity Distribution Companies for onward supply to their customers in Lagos State.

The restoration follows the successful completion of repair works on a part of the 330kV transmission line, between towers 420 to 422 of the Osogbo-Omotosho line, which was completed at 8:55 pm on Saturday, March 15, 2025.

According to a statement by Ndidi Mbah
General Manager ,Public Affairs, TCN, the repair addressed a line snap, restoring lost power and resuming normal bulk transmission.

Consequently, she said load shedding caused by the line cut has been stopped.

TCN , she appreciated the understanding and cooperation of the Lagos State Government, Eko and Ikeja Electricity Distribution Companies, and electricity consumers in Lagos State during the period of load shedding.

Meanwhile, Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has upgrades Agbara 132/33kV sub station

The Transmission Company of Nigeria also notified the public that it is undertaking an upgrade of its 2x45MVA to 2x100MVA Power Transformers at its Agbara 132/33kV Transmission Substation in Ogun State, under the Lagos Region.

The upgrade, she added aimed to increase the substation’s capacity to meet the growing electricity demand in Agbara and its environs, driven by industrialization in the area.

“Upon completion, three additional feeders will be radiated from the upgraded transformers, enabling Eko Electricity Distribution Company to increase supply to its customers in the area.

“To minimize disruption, TCN is replacing one 45MVA power transformer with a 100MVA transformer, with the second one still in the circuit to ensure minimal load shedding during the upgrade. Once completed and energized, the second 45MVA transformer will then be upgraded to 100MVA, increasing the substation’s total capacity from 150MVA to 260MVA.

“We appeal to electricity consumers taking supply from Agbara 132/33kV Transmission Substation to bear with us during the upgrade period, as there may be temporary load shedding. We assure you that normal electricity supply will be restored as soon as the upgrade is completed.” Mbah explained
