There was pandemonium in the early hours of Thursday, as two tankers laden with Petroleum Motor Spirit also known as PMS exploded beside Lacasera Factory at Mile 2 inward Oshodi Apapa, Lagos .
Eyewitnesses at the scene of the incident told DAILY FOCUS NIGERIA that the explosion happened at exactly 1:30 am.
They noted that five vehicles were burnt due to the inferno, even as lorry laden with crates of soft drinks were affected.
However, the Lagos State Fire Service arrived around 2:17 am and flames put off exactly 2:46 am.
It was gathered that operatives of the Nigeria Police Force (MOPOL) and Mile 2 community security team were able to manage the situation with support from Lagos State Management Emergency Authority (LASEMA) at the moment.
According to our reliable sources at the scene, the deplorable state of the road led to the explosion as the two tankers collided at the said portion of the bad road.
The said portion of the road has been in a deplorable condition for over six months without government intervention, a situation commuters called on the federal and state governments to swing into actions by providing palliative ,in order to cushion the effect of road users.
They also expressed fear that a worst situation may arise if the government fail to fix the road immediately.
“Commuters spend close to one hour just to access the bad portion of the road due to the deplorable condition.”
