SSASCGOC Maritime Strengthens Tie With Lekki Port Management To Improve Workers’ Welfare.

The Senior Staff Association of Statutory Corporations and Government-Owned Companies (SSASCGOC) Maritime Branch has strengthened its ties with the operators of the Lekki Deep Sea Port as part of efforts to address challenges affecting workers.
Comrade Akinola Bodunde, President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) affiliate , disclosed this on Friday, 19th June 2025, during a working visit to the Lekki Port Manager, Comrade Anda Emmanuel, and other officials and staff of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) at the port terminal in Lagos.

The visit underscores the SSASCGOC Maritime Branch’s commitment to fostering collaboration and improving working conditions at one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing seaports located in Lagos.
Bodunde acknowledged the challenging working conditions faced by NPA management and staff, particularly the crowded workspaces and accommodation issues.

During the visit, Bodunde, alongside the Branch Executive Committee (BEC), expressed appreciation for the strong working relationship with Comrade Emmanuel and his team. He encouraged the Lekki Port team to continue their efforts to boost revenue generation and support the leadership of Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho in advancing the port’s overall development.
He assured the workers that their concerns would be promptly raised with the NPA management.
The SSASCGOC Maritime president also urged the workforce to maintain their support for both port management and the union to ensure enhanced performance and growth.
The visit also included the union conducting a by-election for the Lekki executives and a courtesy visit to management of the terminal operator..
