SHOCKING SCAM ALERT: Fake Customs CBT Announcement Sparks Confusion Nationwide

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has exposed a fraudulent and misleading fake press release circulating wildly on social media and messaging apps, falsely claiming a Computer-Based Test (CBT) for recruitment is scheduled for July 2025.

Abdullahi Maiwada, Assistant Comptroller of Customs and National Public Relations Officer, Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) disclosed in a statement on Sunday,July 6, 2025.

In a stern warning to Nigerians, the NCS categorically denies issuing any such announcement and reveals the fake statement is riddled with glaring errors—including suspicious e-signatures and incorrect recruitment timelines—that clearly betray its illegitimacy.

“With thousands eagerly awaiting updates on the ongoing NCS recruitment exercise, this fake news has caused unnecessary panic and confusion. The NCS urges the public to ignore, avoid sharing, and not act on any unverified information related to recruitment.”

The Service , Maiwada reassured Nigerians that all authentic updates will ONLY be published on official NCS websites, verified social media accounts, and reputable national newspapers.

NCS is actively investigating the source of this “deceitful misinformation and promises to hold the culprits accountable. The public will be promptly informed when the legitimate next phase of recruitment begins,”he noted.

The NCS also thanked vigilant Nigerians for their alertness and reiterates its unwavering commitment to transparency, integrity, and protecting the public from misinformation.
