Shippers’ Council, Ogun State Govt Partner on Inland Dry Port Project

The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), and Ogun State Government are partnering to fast -track the development of Gateway Inland Dry Port project.

The Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian Shippers’ Council, Dr. Akutah Pius MON led the Council’s management team on a courtesy visit to the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Dapo Abiodun in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Dr. Akutah, who praised the Ogun State Government’s commitment to the project expressed optimism that the dry port would soon become a reality.

” It is our desire to promote critical transport infrastructure like Inland Dry Port which you have thrown your weight behind. I know we will achieve it before your tenure comes to an end. We have legacy dry ports across Nigeria. Many of them are moving slowly but Ogun State is different. This is the reason we always use the Ogun dry port project as an example whenever we are discussing ”, he said.

According to him, the NSC promotes seamless movement of cargoes and ensures the ease of doing business.

Earlier, the Governor appreciated the ES/CEO of Nigerian Shippers’ Council, Dr.Akutah Pius and the management team for the visit.

He said that the development of Gateway Inland Dry Port is key to them, noting that the establishment of the port will be of great economic boost to the State’s manufacturing companies and industries.

He also added that the operation of the port will address the bottlenecks of bringing raw materials from Lagos State.
