Some glitches associated with slight server disruptions have been attributed to cuts in the fibre optic cables from the Abuja end of the third party internet service providers facility.
Sources close to the service disclosed that the issues have nothing to do with the servers or hardware as those are also being monitored regularly.
According to them, engineers have been deployed to fix the issues and restore the facilities to their original state of better performance.
One of them , simply identified as Peter Shola (not real name ) added that “The challenge is a temporary setback and would be resolved soon. All hands are on deck to restore efficiency as engineers and technicians are working round the clock to address it
“The root cause has been identified as fibre optic cable cuts at the Abuja end of the third-party providers and equipment failures at their last mile radio links.
“This has resulted in intermittent fibre connection from third-party telecommunication providers, causing disruptions.
” We have used this system to support the NCS in increasing it’s revenue collection and overall efficiency in service delivery to importers,exporters, licensed customs agents and freight forwarders and we hope to continue in that direction.” He said.
Abubakar Usman, Customs Public Relations Officer for Apapa Command and Uche Ejesieme of Tincan Island Port Command had also listed bad weather condition as reason for some failures in the recent past.
Recall that freight agents have threatened to sue the service over the incessant breakdown of the server powered by Webb Fortune, a situation that has affected clearance of cargoes from the seaports .
