Senator Danjuma Goje To Chair Marine Transport Committee

The Senate has announced Senator Danjuma Goje as the new chairman, Marine Transport Committee of the upper chamber.
Goje has Senator Adebayo Osinowo to serve as his deputy in the standing committee of the Senate.
President of the Senate, Dr Ahmad Lawan made the announcement shortly before the lawmakers went on annual recess on Tuesday.
The new Chairman on Marine Transport in the 9th Assembly took over from former Governor of Zamfara State ,Senator Sani Ahmed Yerima.
Similarly, the new chairman was a former Governor of Gombe State under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), taking office on the 29th of May, 2003.
Born 10 October 1952 , he was a former minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The former Governor is currently a member of the ruling All Progressive Congress ( APC)
Goje was born in Pindiga, Akko, Gombe State. He studied Political Science and graduated from ABU Zaria.
He was a member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly from 1979-1983. Goje became the Secretary of the National Institute For Medical Research in Yaba, Lagos State in 1984, continuing until 1989.
He went on to establish his own organization, Zaina Nigeria Limited, from 1989-1999. The company was named after his mother, Hajiya Zainab.
Goje contested for the seat of Senator in the Nigeria National Assembly in 1998 and later on became the Minister of State, Power and Steel from 1999-2001 under President Olusegun Obasanjo In the April 2011 elections, he was elected Senator for Gombe Central on the PDP ticket.
