Security Chiefs :”We Are Ready For Saturday Elections “

Nigerian security chiefs have reaffirmed preparedness against Saturday’s governorship and state houses of assembly elections.

 

The officials gave the assurance after they held a closed-door meeting with President Muhammdu Buhari in Abuja on Tuesday.

 

The meeting which lasted for about two hours. was attended by the Chief of Defence Staff, Gabriel Olonisakin; Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno; Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan- Ali, Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau; Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Abubakar, and the Director General of Department for State Security Service (SSS), Yusuf Bichi.

Others are Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai; Chief of Naval Staff, Ibok Ibas and the Chief of Air Staff, Abubakar Sadique and the acting Inspector General of Police,Mohammed Adamu.

 

Addressing journalists shortly after the meeting with the President, acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, assured Nigerians of a peaceful election,adding that all security outfits have assured that they are ready for the polls.

 

He recalled that “There was widespread violence during the last elections across the country. The IGP stated the resolve of security agencies to curb it.

The Police top brass said “We are all aware of the fact that we just concluded the presidential and National Assembly elections and we want to congratulate Nigerians for the peaceful conduct of the elections, and we are prepared now for the governorship and the House of Assembly elections in the country.
