Seaport Immigration Boss Tasks Journalists To Promote National Security 

The Comptroller in charge of Lagos Seaports/Marine  Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Comptroller  Abdulkadir Suleiman Garo has charged  the media to promote  national security   through objective reportage of events and activities as part of efforts to rebrand the image of the country.

 

Comptroller Garo disclosed this on Tuesday , during a parley with some selected journalists in Lagos.

The seasoned senior officer who spoke with journalists  drawn from the print, electronic and online, promised to operate an open-door-policy with the media in furtherance to information sharing and dissemination of the service contributions to seaport operations.

According to him, the media has what it takes to change the negative reports about the country mostly as it affects insecurity.

 

He expressed his passion for the media activities, even as he disclosed that journalism was his first profession at a tender age.

 

 

Garo who assumed duty recently,  took over from Emmanuel Ayodele Arogundade who was recently promoted and decorated with the rank of Assistant Comptroller-General (ACG).

 

 

He hails from Kano state and has served in different formations of the Nigeria Immigration Service, including the Ikoyi Passport Office where he held the position of Passport Control Officer until his redeployment to Lagos Seaports/Marine Command.
