Seafarers Union Set To Elect New National Executives

The Nigeria Merchant Navy Officers and Water Transport Senior Staff Association is set to elect new executives that will pilot the affairs of the seafarers union for another four years.

The election is expected to hold on Friday in Asaba ,Delta state, south south Nigeria.

The 1st Quadrennial National Delegate Conference is to bring together all four zones that constitute the union to elect new leadership.

The zones include: Shipping, Fishing, NIWA and Offshore.

National President of the union, Engineer Matthew Alalade whose tenure is expected to end tomorrow told DAILYFOCUS NEWS ONLINE on Thursday, said the elections have been conducted in all the zones and the grand finale which will usher in new executives comes up on Friday.

“This is grand finale of the national body of the Nigeria Merchant Navy Officers and Water Transport Senior Staff Association in Delta State.

According to him, ” We are going to have a peaceful exercise as my tenure is about to end and a new leader is about to emerge in piloting the affairs of the union.”

The conference will also include a paper presentation with theme “The Challenges Of Stress and Fatigue To Seafarers.
