Seafarers Union Bags Best Maritime Transport Group For Year 2021

The Nigeria Merchant Navy Officers and Water Transport Senior Staff Association has bagged the Nigeria Transport Awards as the ‘ Maritime Transport Association” of the year.

 

The association is among other organizations and individuals honoured at the just concluded 8th Nigeria Annual Transport Lecture featuring Lectures, Exhibitions and Awards.

 

According to the Editor of Transport Day newspaper (organisers of the event), Mr. Frank Kintum, media house, after much research on  year’s award deemed it fit to recognize the association as the best maritime association in the year under review.

The Editor added that the award is a meritious one , because during the process of nominations a lot of other associations were also nominated, but after a pain staking research with the boards of editors, the association was selected.

Chief Engr Wale George, Vice National President Shipping Zonal Council and Comr. John Okpono Aleakhue Secretary General, received the award plaque on behalf of the National President of the union, High Chief Engr Bob Joseph Yousou.

 

 

Responding, Aleakhue  stated that his association appreciates the honour and will continue to contribute positively to the development of the maritime sector in the country.

Aleakhue who spoke on behalf of the President reiterated that union’s commitment for members welfare adding that the merchant Navy outfit has engaged employers on how to better the lots of seafarers’welfare in numerous ways, pointing out that the Comrade  Yousou administration has evidently transformed seafarers’ profession in the last one year in office.

Victor Banjo,SA to National President on Maritime,  Comr. Ifeanyi A.Chukwu, Admin / Asst Secretary Shipping Zonal Council, Comr. Mohamed Suleiman, Asst Secretary General Operations and Jeremiah Obadiah, Asst Secretary General Admin, Comr. Ijeoma Dickson, Admin Officer, Deck Cadet Sunday Odiri.
