Sanwo Olu Splits Education Ministry, Re-introduces Office Of Rural Development

Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved the restructuring of key Ministries, Department and Agencies of government in line with the objective to ensure improved performance and effective service delivery.

This was contained in a statewide circular dated 25th July, 2023 signed by the Head of Service, Mr Hakeem Muri-Okunola.

According to the circular,  the Ministry of Education has been divided into two. These are the Ministry of Tertiary Education and the Ministry of Basic Education.

The former Office of Special Adviser on Education is now to be known and addressed as the Ministry of Tertiary Education, with all the powers of a substantive government Ministry.

Also, the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs has been upgraded to the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, with the re-introduction of the Office of Rural Development.

Furthermore, the Office of Civic Engagement has been expanded to include the Political and Legislative Bureau, while the Central Internal Audit Department has been upgraded to the Office of Internal Audit.
