The National Emergency Management Authority (NEMA) has entered into strategic collaboration with that of the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) in view to tackle issues related on disaster management and waterways safety.
NEMA also reiterated it commitment to train personnel of the state waterways authority for effective and prompt response to search and rescue operations.
At meeting over the weekend, the officials of NEMA visited LASWA to discuss issues related to disaster management on the waterways and how such crisis can be managed or averted
“NEMA as a Federal Government agency responsible for disaster management promised to collaborate with LASWA for greater efficiency in search and rescue operations while also offering to train LASWA personnel on disaster management and improved response time,” a statement from made available to correspondent explained.
Primarily, ” NEMA and LASWA are willing to pull resources together for a more effective outcome.
“It was also resolved at the meeting that all agencies of government shall be on the same page on information dissemination to avoid giving conflicting account of events to media houses,”it added.
