Ro-Ro Cargo Ship Aground In Uk Waters

A roll-on/roll-off cargo (Ro-Ro) ship has grounded on Wolf Rock Lighthouse off Land’s End in Cornwall, England.
The vessel is the Maltese-flagged M/V Mazarine, built in 2009, belonging to Luxembourg-based European logistics provider CLdN, according to Equassis data.

The ship reportedly lost power and drifted into the lighthouse during a voyage from Ringaskiddy, Ireland to Zeebrugge, Belgium. Reports indicated there are 25 crew members on board.
RNLI lifeboats from Sennen Cove and Penlee have been dispatched along with an HM Coastguard helicopter and a tug.

“A coastguard helicopter has been sent along with Penlee and Sennen Cove RNLI lifeboats in case the crew needs to be evacuated. A second helicopter is on standby in case it is needed.”

The enormous 640-foot-long Mazarine cargo ship was on its way from Ireland to Belgium when it got into difficulty off the coast of Cornwall, close to the Isles of Scilly.
“HM Coastguard is coordinating the response after a vessel off the Isles of Scilly reported losing power near Wolf Rock lighthouse,” a HM Coastguard spokesperson said. “The crew on board are reported to be uninjured and safe. A tug has been sent to assist.
“A coastguard helicopter has been sent along with Penlee and Sennen Cove RNLI lifeboats in case the crew needs to be evacuated. A second helicopter is standby in case it is needed.”
Wolf Rock Lighthouse, built in 1869, is located eight nautical miles off Land’s End and is known for being the first rock lighthouse to have a helideck constructed on top of the lantern housing in 1972, according to Trinity House, which operates it.
