RETIREMENT: Dr. Nkem Bows Out , As  Colleagues Extol Chief Medical Officer NPA Tin Can Island Port

 

...Dr. Peter is the best doctor NPA ever had – Colleagues 

 

The Chief Medical Officer(CMO), Tin Can Island Port Complex (TCIPC) Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has officially retired from active service, even as colleagues, staffers and well wishes showed him with encomium and accolades for serving humanity.

At an in-house sent forth ceremony held on Thursday at the port complex in Lagos, which had in attendance representatives of Port Manager TCIPC, General Manager, Medical Service (GMMS), heads of department, families and friends , witnessed mixed feeling of joy , celebration of active service and prayers for the doctor’s future endeavours.

 

Those who spoke at the ceremony , took turn to describe the retired CMO as a professional in the medical ecosystem with a heart full of gold for humanity.

Some of them also labelled him as the best medical officer that ever worked with the NPA.

 

Speaking at the ceremony, Port Manager TCIPC, Mallam Buba Jubril NPA wished the retired medical expert  fruitful years outside public service .

 

The Port Manager who was represented by the Principal Manager, Occupational Health , NPA TCIPC, Mr. Banduman Yohanna Sati noted that “Doctor Nkem is very special to us and he is now a senior citizen.

Buba said the medical doctor has done his best at the port level and NPA in particular.

The Port Manager pointed out that: “I know how much he has impacted into the lives of so many. He is man who has gone round in the medical field . He is highly professional and technocrat at what he does.

“You have played your part as a medical personnel because a lot of challenges are there in the profession.

“You have done what you are supposed to do for humanity and if human beings do not think you for all the efforts , heavens will appreciate you specially because I believe that medical doctors have their rewards in heaven”.

“It is not easy to work as a medical doctor but Dr. Nkem is active in the line of duty, you are a vibrant man,you work for justice and truth and transparency .

The General Manager, Medical Service (GMMS), Dr. C. Nwakolo also commended Dr. Nkem for his contribution to humanity, even as she  prayed  for brighter future endeavours in the lives of the medical practitioner.

She added that staff and colleagues of the NPA will miss the services rendered by the medical doctor who was taking a bow out of the system.

Speaking on the sideline of the event, Dr. Peter maintained that “retirement is about the thing of the mind. It is a continuous exercise despite retirement. Am humble and I thank everyone for the love.

“We will continue to serve humanity .We are in the business of life and we cannot stop at that.”

When asked about what he will be remembered for, Dr. Peter responded saying, “Dr. Waters”.
